**Job Description**
You will be responsible for structuring business challenges from data, forming hypotheses, and leading the design and verification of measures. This position involves total involvement from model consideration and implementation to improvement.
- Discovering and structuring business challenges through analysis of user behavior and purchase data.
- Building policy hypotheses for challenges and designing verifiable experiments (e.g., A/B tests).
- Designing and selecting features, and implementing and tuning recommendation models.
- Analyzing discrepancies between offline evaluation and online results, and verifying the effectiveness of measures.
- Prioritizing measures based on analysis results. Making decisions in collaboration with Product Managers, etc.
We plan to expand the team in the future, and we would be happy if you could also be involved in recruitment and training, but for now, please focus on the areas mentioned above.
**Background of Recruitment**
We are looking for our first Data Scientist.
Kauche has surpassed 6 million cumulative downloads. Since our business transformation in 2023, we have achieved rapid growth, with a 30x increase in GMV, a 252x increase in gross profit, and a 68x increase in DAU in two and a half years. Many of our customers do not come to the app with a specific item in mind, but rather discover products by chance and make purchases, often starting with features like Kauche Farm. This behavior is fundamentally different from traditional e-commerce. Data-driven measures, centered on recommendations utilizing this unique data, have been a major driver of our business growth.
However, our Data Science / ML domain is currently operated by one contract employee, and we lack a Data Scientist who can lead the entire process from data analysis to hypothesis building, feature design, accuracy improvement, and effectiveness verification.
Our main achievements to date have been in product recommendations, but recently we have also begun working on matching UGC with customers and providing improvement suggestions to product sellers. Moving forward, our ambitions in this area are expanding significantly, including optimization of ad delivery, dynamic pricing, and UI variations. We are seeking a Data Scientist who can lead the entire process from analysis and hypothesis building to implementation and effectiveness verification.
**Required Skills/Experience**
- Over 3 years of practical experience leading from data analysis to hypothesis building and proposal of measures independently (excluding PoCs and internal services).
- Experience in designing and selecting features with an understanding of the business context.
- Experience in designing, conducting, and verifying A/B tests, and designing offline evaluations.
- Experience implementing machine learning models using Python (ability to write and run models yourself, not just analyze).
- Experience in data analysis and statistical analysis using SQL and Python.
- Ability to lead prioritization and decision-making for measures in collaboration with Product Managers, etc.
**Preferred Skills/Experience**
- Practical experience in data analysis and personalization in the EC, social media, or gaming domains.
- Experience improving business KPIs in a production environment with millions of MAU.
- Experience designing and tuning recommendation models.
- Experience dealing with the cold start problem (new users/new items).
- Experience in training and mentoring team members.
