Kauche is seeking a Principal Backend Engineer to lead high-level technical challenges within their backend domain. This role involves driving solutions for complex issues in a rapidly growing discovery-based social e-commerce app that has achieved 7 million downloads and high user engagement.
Must-haves
- 8+ years of backend development and operations experience.
- Proven experience leading solutions for advanced technical challenges in large-scale, high-traffic systems (e.g., large transactions, scaling, reliability, architecture design).
- Experience in backend development using languages such as Go, Ruby, PHP, Java, Python, TypeScript, Scala, Kotlin, or Dart.
- Experience formulating and disseminating technical policies and design standards within an organization.
- Ability to take ownership and independently handle tasks from design to implementation and operation.
Nice-to-haves
- Development and operational experience with Go and Google Cloud.
- Experience designing and operating large-transaction platforms in e-commerce or finance.
- Experience leading architectural reforms such as domain division and microservices.
- Experience in Platform Engineering/SRE (Observability, SLI/SLO operations, automation infrastructure).
- Experience leading organizations technically as a Tech Lead or Engineering Manager.
- Experience designing and optimizing development processes using LLMs and AI tools.

Work style

Salary range: 11.4M - 27.0M JPY annually. Includes 40 hours of fixed overtime per month. Stock options that do not expire after leaving the company.
