▼Job Description
[About This Position]
As an Engineering Manager at KiteRa, your core responsibilities will revolve around people management, including supporting member growth, hiring, and performance evaluations. You will build a development organization that continuously delivers value by improving development processes and resolving organizational challenges. Working closely with the CTO and Product Managers, you will act as a bridge between engineers and management, participating in decision-making.
A unique aspect of our engineering team is the close collaboration with licensed professionals such as Social Insurance Labor Consultants (experts). Engineers discuss requirements from the definition stage with specialists who possess deep knowledge of laws and practical business operations, creating products where domain accuracy is paramount. Supporting engineers to excel in this environment is a key role for the EM.
KiteRa is currently in the process of evolving from an "Internal Regulation Management Tool" to a "GRC Platform." In this phase of organizational expansion and change, you can join as a core member to help shape the organizational design and the very nature of engineering management.
[Job Responsibilities]
You will play a role in supporting member growth and the overall output of the development organization. Your responsibilities will include:
◆ People Management & Hiring
- Support engineer growth through 1-on-1 meetings, goal setting, and performance evaluations.
- Plan and execute hiring strategies (interviews, scouting, refining hiring criteria).
- Develop onboarding and training programs, and foster engineering culture.
◆ Development Process Improvement
- Identify and improve issues in development workflows, CI/CD, and review processes.
- Create systems to resolve technical debt and enhance development productivity.
◆ Cross-Organizational Collaboration & Strategy
- Collaborate with the CTO, Product Managers, and Leaders in organizational operations.
- Plan and execute engineering organizational strategies to support business growth.
<Expected Outcomes>
- Improved engineer hiring capabilities.
- Increased member growth rate and retention.
- Strengthened cross-team collaboration.
- Continuous improvement in development productivity.
- Establishment of reproducible management processes.
- Building an organizational foundation that can withstand business growth.
[Background for Recruitment]
KiteRa is currently evolving into a GRC platform and expanding into multiple products.
With business growth, our development organization is also continuously expanding, and we anticipate an increase in both the number of teams and products.
Our development organization has achieved high results with a small team. However, with organizational expansion, the need to systematically promote themes such as hiring, training, evaluation, and organizational design has become more critical.
We are currently in a phase of further evolving our management and career support systems in line with the growth of the development organization.
Furthermore, as the number of teams increases, we are addressing themes such as:
- Standardization of management quality.
- Supporting engineer growth.
- Strengthening hiring capabilities.
- Improving development productivity.
- Building an organization adapted to the AI era.
We are looking for someone who can actively shape the future of KiteRa's engineering management alongside the CTO and leaders, rather than simply operating an established organization.
[KiteRa's Unique Strengths]
◆ Deep Domain Specialization
- We focus on the highly specialized and error-intolerant fields of internal regulations and labor affairs, refining products deeply rooted in practical workflows. Our products are valued for their practical functionality and usability, which are difficult for generic tools to replicate.
◆ Dual Expansion: For Businesses (KiteRa Biz) and Professionals (KiteRa Pro)
- We support both companies that manage their own regulations and Social Insurance Labor Consultant firms that assist clients with regulation creation. We provide tailored products for each. These two user groups are closely connected through retainer contracts, and the network that supports this relationship itself forms our business foundation.
◆ Management and Organization with Deep Domain Understanding
- Our CEO is a licensed Social Insurance Labor Consultant, and licensed professionals (domain experts) are directly involved in product development. Decision-making that considers the nuances of laws and practical operations contributes to the reliability of our products.
[Advantages in the AI Era]
We believe KiteRa's value will only increase with the advancement of AI.
Regulations and labor affairs are areas where "accuracy," "legal basis," and "company-specific individuality" are strictly required, and errors are not permissible. For example, even the same "Childcare and Family Care Leave Regulations" will have different appropriate content depending on a company's employment structure, labor-management agreements, and past operational history, and a single phrase can lead to legal violations or labor disputes. These areas are difficult to replace safely with generic AI alone, making reliable domain data and expert knowledge indispensable.
KiteRa possesses the foundation for AI to perform well, comprising "regulation data × legal amendment information × company-specific operational knowledge." For us, AI is not a threat but a tailwind. By combining specialized knowledge and AI in the creation, checking, and proposal of revisions for regulations, we can enhance the value proposition of our products.
[Future Business Outlook]
KiteRa is evolving from "Internal Regulation DX" to a platform that supports the entire GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) domain.
Since our founding in 2019, our initial focus has been the digitalization of internal regulations and work rules. With two products, "KiteRa Biz" for companies and "KiteRa Pro" for professional firms, we support both the "users" and "creators" of regulations, exceeding 4,000 implementations. With cumulative funding of 3 billion yen, we are now entering a phase of further business expansion.
Regulations are just the entry point. Beyond that lies a wide range of operations related to corporate compliance and risk management. Building upon the domain knowledge and customer base established through regulation management, we aim to evolve into a GRC platform that supports these areas with multiple products.
Business expansion directly translates to the expansion and increasing complexity of our development organization. As the number of products and teams grows, the EM position at KiteRa is where you can directly confront the questions of how to design and operate the development organization. This is also directly linked to realizing our mission of "Creating a world where people can work with peace of mind."
