LocationMind is seeking a Senior/Specialist Data Platform / Database Engineer to improve development quality and maintainability by refactoring existing code and preparing design documents. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipeline systems for processing and analyzing large-scale geospatial data from moving objects.
Must-haves
- Experience tuning SQL or databases for processing speed and efficiency.
- Experience with database and table design (including normalization).
- Experience processing large-scale raw data from moving objects or time-series data, and building data pipeline systems.
- Experience working in cloud environments (especially AWS), including services like S3, EC2, EKS, EMR, AWS Glue, Athena, RDS.
- Experience using big data frameworks like Apache Spark.
- Programming languages: Python, Java, SQL.
- Operating systems and tools: Linux, Bash.
Nice-to-haves
- Possession of one of the following certifications: Database Specialist Exam, Oracle Master Gold or higher, OSS-DB Technical Specialist Gold, or cloud database certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database - Specialty).
- Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL and spatial extensions (e.g., PostGIS, pgRouting).
- Understanding of data warehouse and lakehouse architectures.
- Knowledge of workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, AWS Step Functions, or Dagster.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes (especially EKS).
- Knowledge of spatial data formats like GeoJSON, Shapefile, OSM, PBF.
