Must-haves

Practical experience in experimentation and evaluation of mechanical devices (especially rotating machinery)
Experience in selecting and handling sensors and measurement instruments
Hands-on experience in experimental/testing environments (assembly, wiring, signal measurement)

Experience handling cryogenic fluids (liquid nitrogen, oxygen, methane)
