Legalscape is seeking its first Legal Engineer (Lawyer) to establish a new career path in Japan. This role involves translating legal expertise into AI product quality and competitiveness, contributing directly to the company's growth.
Must-haves
- Must be a licensed Japanese lawyer
- 3+ years of legal practice experience (law firm or in-house)
- Daily use of generative AI/LLMs in work
- Ability to critically evaluate AI output and articulate reasoning
- Proficiency in legal research and drafting/reviewing legal documents
- Ability to collaborate with non-legal professionals (engineers, PdMs)
Nice-to-haves
- Experience designing/building AI workflows, prompts, or playbooks
- Experience with AI product evaluation, annotation, or dataset creation
- Experience in LegalTech, startups, or in-house legal departments
- Experience in knowledge management or creating legal content/templates
- Experience directing team members or external partners

Salary: 8,000,000 - 15,000,000 JPY + Stock Options. Relocation support available (company leases apartment, covers initial costs).
